Why Do Patients Stay With Our Clinic? A Look Behind the Scenes
"How do you get patients to commit to such long-term care plans?" That's a question I hear often. While the chiropractic profession often sees patients leave after their pain subsides, we take a different approach. It's incredibly rewarding to see how invested our patients become in their wellness journeys.
Of course, I'll spill all the details at Best Practices on April 20th, but let me share a few key concepts that make a huge difference:
We Walk the Talk: Does your team truly embrace preventative chiropractic care? If not, it shows. We all prioritize regular adjustments – it's a clear sign that we believe in the power of lifelong spinal health, and patients notice.
The Experience Matters: We focus on making each visit special, because it's not just about the adjustment. From the moment patients find us to their very first appointment, we go the extra mile. Streamlined paperwork, welcoming touches like organic tea, and a warm environment all contribute to that "wow" factor.
Anticipating Needs: We all know those common patient questions: "What pillow should I use?" "Are there exercises I should be doing?" Instead of waiting for them to ask, we built a system to address those needs proactively. When patients feel understood, they're more likely to make care a priority.
These are just a few reasons why patients choose to become a lasting part of our clinic family. If you're serious about transforming your practice, Best Practices is the place to be! It's a life-changing experience, both professionally and personally.
Personal Thoughts on My Mind
My Son Does Not Want to Play Shortstop. My son's been a first baseman his whole baseball career. It fit – he was the best at catching those early throws. But things change, and this Sunday, his coach asked him to try shortstop. Suddenly, he wasn't so excited.
It's a big shift, a leadership role, a lot of pressure for a kid used to one specific position.
That's when I saw my chance to share a little life lesson. Shortstops are the heart of the infield, involved in every play. They get to lead. It's tough, but it's a huge opportunity for growth. He seemed to take it in, and you know what? At his next game, even though he only got three innings at shortstop, I could see the mindset shift in him.
Sometimes, the best parenting moments aren't about fixing problems, but about recognizing those chances to help our kids grow. Opportunities to lead, to try the hard things... those are the wins, whether they end up loving shortstop or not!

Think Like a CEO – I am in the process of building a program for my doctors to learn to think like a CEO. So many chiropractors think “I only want to own my clinic and be my own boss” yet that have no clue what stress comes from actually running it like a real business.
In fact, if someone came to me right now and offered me $1,000,000 to work for them and be their CEO, I would take that in a heartbeat. To be able to not manage staff, handle payroll, deal with emergencies, receive real PTO, get hidden costs, and the overall stress of the unknown, working at that rate would be the greatest thing ever at this phase of my life.
I would easily take that CEO position and be able to crush it and would definitely want some profit sharing in order to be directly correlated to the profits of the company. Takeaway here is to get your team on board with this because its such a mindset shift but one that can be so impactful. My team who have adopted this mindset are crushing it and the burden of ownership has dissipated but they are now in a profit sharing model being a key executive.
Quote I’m Pondering
“We don’t remember days, but moments.”
This quote really resonates with me. When I think back over my life, it's not routines or ordinary days that stand out, but those special moments. This serves as a powerful reminder to be intentional about creating moments worth remembering, both for my family and the team I work with.
